i have spent many a morning of the past few months reading the lonely planet site. having moved around so much it can be hard to stick in one place for so long. i have been back in sydney for about 18 months now and am already starting to feel like i need to get moving again... i do love to travel and explore new places and i have kinda been doing that through various travel sites to get ideas of where i want to go next.. more about that another time.
last week i found
this article and it was so appropriate because, as you know, i am right in the middle of trying to downsize my life. it is getting a bit exhausting trying to sort through the masses of stuff that build up in a lifetime. and most of it is stuff that i guess i don't really need. so i think i am getting a little more ruthless with what i hold on to these days. i mean part of it has come about because i do want to travel more and that is difficult when you have so much stuff... anyway, i have started getting really interested in minimalism and minimalist decor. as i have said before, i would love to have one of those tiny 35m square apartments that they have in ikea. many of the minimalist designs are minimalist in the colour schemes they use too. i don't dislike colour though and i am always saying i need to get more colour in my life, but i love the black, grey, white, cream, basically neutral colour pallet that seems common in minimalist decor.
here are a few of my favourites...
